NDC General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia and former President Mahama

Former President John Mahama will only move out of his official residence if President Akufo-Addo is ready to stay there, General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has said.

In his view, it will be inappropriate for the Mr. Mahama to move out of the state property for vice president, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to occupy.

General Mosquito’s as he is popularly called was reacting to claims on social media that the vice president is stranded following Mr. Mahama’s decision to keep his official residence which is supposed to be the official residence allocated to vice presidents.

The former President has also initiative moves by writing officially to the Akufo-Addo led government to allow keep the house as part of his ex-gratia – a decision government is yet to approve.

However, majority of Ghanaians have criticized this very unpopular decision by the former President which is also in violation of the laws.

But Asiedu Nketia on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Tuesday said, Dr. Bawumia cannot be said to be stranded when the former vice president, Kwesi Amissah Arthur has moved from his residence, Australia House.

“If Akufo-Addo wants to live in that house, President Mahama will move but Dr. Bawumia has a place of residence because Amissah Arthur has moved” he stressed.
